Vaisakhi marks the first day of the month of New Year in the Sikh Calendar and is traditionally celebrated annually on April 13th. It is also celebrated by people from the Hindu community. It is a way of honoring the Khalsa Panth of the warriors under Guru Gobind Singh. The Khalsa Panth was formed in the year 1699.

As proud Canadian Sikhs, we are happy to celebrate APRIL as SIKH HERITAGE MONTH. April is an important month for all Sikhs, a time to celebrate Vaisakhi, which marks the creation of the Khalsa and the Sikh articles of faith.

Starting April 2024, dedicated to Sikh Heritage Month, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re now offering free turban and dumala tying classes here in Calgary! Our experts will be teaching you the traditional style of what defines us! 💫

Jashan is our annual function. This year it will be on November 19th at Jubilee Auditorium. This is a chance for all of our students to get stage experience, and perform for an audience. This event will showcase a variety of performances including bhangra, malawi gidha, skits, and many other things. You will be able to see the talent of little kids all the way to adults.

Calgary Stampede

Calgary Stampede is Calgary’s biggest event with people traveling all over the world to come and experience it. This was our second time performing at Calgary Stampede’s family day event. We had 3 performances there, and were able to show Bhangra and exhibit Punjabi culture at Calgary’s most important and special event.

Jashan is our annual function which is held at Jubilee auditorium. During this event, every student gets the opportunity to showcase what they have learned, and perform for an audience. These events consist of a variety of performances, bhangra performances from kids as young as 5 years old to adults, Gidha, Malwai Gidha, and many other special performances.

Centre for newcomers

The centre for newcomers is an organization with the purpose of welcoming immigrants, and helping them feel more at home in a new country. Our senior team performed here, and it was an amazing way to showcase Punjabi culture. This event took place in Calgary Downtown at Bow Tower, Calgary’s tallest building. This was the first time Bhangra was performed in this building.

Seniors Week

Seniors week was celebrated in Chestermere to help honor, recognize. Support, and celebrate all the efforts made by seniors and older adults in Chestermere to make it the place it is today. One way this was done was through bhangra performances. We brought 3 of our teams who provided wonderful performances bringing a smile to everyone’s face.
